Here is a slide show of the work from one of the best international artists in the world, Erruas Safaa from Morocco.
Born in 1976 in Tétouan, Morocco, Safaa Erruas is part of the generation of artists trained in art schools in the late 1990s and who are standing away from the legacies of their education to position themselves in relation to international art by using materials they find in the souks’ stalls. If Erruas evokes dressmaking as a job and family tradition, she recuperates it in her own way to claim her existence as an artist. Cotton, plastered gauze, pins, cloths and razors are her favorite entities. She turns these clinical materials into poetic elements.
