Bold, brave and interesting work indeed. Few people in the Western world are familiar with these practices. Voodoo has been so misunderstood and certainly has a bad press. Voodoo is the fastest growing religion in the world and has no Church. There are 1000's of Voodoos. Originally from Benin, West Africa each family has their own Voodoo and each practise is as different and varied as the next. This Movement on earth can not come at a better time as Voodoo is paramount in the universal understanding of the Continent, especially West Africa. Good luck to Henning with finishing this much needed film and hopefully we can all support you here.

Eria 'Sane' Nsubuga | Ugandan Artist
Cattle Dung Artworks
Artworks by Ugandan Artist | Eria Sane Nsubuga - 2012 - 50 Years of Independence and life has changed so very little.
Here is an artist clearly angry with many aspects of the world. The Art World. The Third World. The Lack of Development in his World. Here is an artist that Amnesty and Liberty should be aware of. He has done more this year for Uganda than any other person in East Africa in the last 50 Years - We must celebrate the artistic bravery of Eria Nsubuga and ensure his works are seen, understood and written about. The present day issues within Museums around the world of the primitive mixed with the modern. The tribal with the contemporary - these works are strong responses to those outside Africa, representing the Continent so poorly.

Kifete - Tribute to Romano Lutwamo |
When an artist or an individual uses dung, feces, excrement or shit the work holds a special energy and a specific anger directed at the authorities; whether the works are by Chris Ofili and his elephant dung paintings or the Arabs inmates in Iraqi prisons under America Guards or the IRA suspects in the H-Block in Northern Ireland..Using shit is a human beings last resort and a way in which few dare to create works of Art. Only the brave and courageous among us would be so daring. Eria Nsubuga, this year, has excelled himself and shown his works to have Universal appeal and the artists of Uganda to be regarded as World Class International Artists. He has certainly pushed the boundaries to there limits in this, the 50th Anniversary Year of Independence for Uganda.
